Project Helpful Hearts
Our Mission
Project Helpful Heart’s mission is to collect new and gently used durable medical equipment (DME) intended to support those who are mobility impaired due to any physical disability, illness, or injury.
Through this Project, donated DME is then loaned to adults, children, and caregivers so they can live, work and play regardless of their physical challenges. Please see the list below for examples of the DME available through this program.

Who We Serve
We Care serves Polk County residents who have NO insurance of any kind (include the Polk Health Care Plan, Medicaid and Medicare) and are at or below the 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
I was referred to We Care because I was experiencing blurry vision in both eyes, so much that I was unable to drive, which also left me unable to work. We Care staff immediately scheduled me to see an Ophthalmologist. I was told that both of my retinas were swelling and bleeding causing my vision to come and go. I am now receiving monthly injections and my vision is beginning to clear. I am finally able to drive and work again. If it were not for We Care, I would have gone blind. I am grateful for everyone’s help. God bless all of you, it is a wonderful thing you are doing here in Polk County!

We Care is a recipient of and is partially funded by Polk County's voter-approved 1/2 cent sales tax for indigent health care.
